This blog is created by a local tour guide born and raised in the northern region of Okinawa island. This lush mountainous area is locally known as Yanbaru, and the name means to the locals as a place to enjoy and appreciate nature.
I write, in a rather freewheeling manner, things I see and hear mainly in the nature-rich region of Okinawa . Okinawa is the southernmost prefecture in Japan. Come and experience this unique resort island in the heart of subtropical climate and blue ocean.

Tour Guide Service

Shu Uechi, a local tour guide (certified by the Prefecture of Okinawa in Oct, 2009) can offer exotic tours of Okinawa to English-speaking visitors.

As a native of Okinawa, born and raised in a rural northern region where traditions are still very much alive and well-reserved, I'm able to make many suggestions for those who want to experience traditions of Okinawa. I speak Okinawan native language as well.

Many villages in Okinawa, for example, hold annual ceremonies where major tour operators from the main land Japan would not normally take visitors to.

I will offer tours in cooperation with local tour operators who will accommodate all of your travel needs such as hotel and restaurant reservations, transportations, etc.
